Graduate students who have completed all coursework and have not exceeded the thesis submission deadline may apply for additional coursework and/or graduation through coursework credits as outlined below. Eligible students who wish to apply should submit their application within the designated period.

1. Eligibility

Students who have completed all coursework and have not exceeded the thesis submission deadline.

A.

Students who wish to earn their degree by taking additional courses to satisfy the graduation credit requirements under the coursework-credit completion option.

B.

Students who intend to earn their degree by submitting a thesis or an individual research project, but who also wish to take additional coursework.

Thesis submission deadline

• Master's (Day Program): 7 years from the year of admission
• Master's (Evening Program) and Doctoral Programs: 11 years from the year of admission
• Integrated Master's–Doctoral Program: 12 years from the year of admission

Students who have exceeded the thesis submission deadline should refer to the separate notice regarding the special extension of the thesis submission deadline.(논문 제출시한 경과자는 별도 공지 참고(클릭) )

2. Application Period

August 4 (Tue) – August 20 (Thu), 2026

Late applications will not be accepted.

Submission Hours

• Weekdays: 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Lunch break: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Closed on weekends and public holidays

Submission Office

Applications must be submitted to the administrative office of the applicant's graduate school.

3. Required Documents

The application must bear the signatures (or seals) of:

• the applicant, the thesis advisor, and the department chair.

4. Application Procedure

A.

Complete the attached application form, obtain approval from the department chair (or program director), and submit it to the administrative office of the applicant's graduate school.

B.

Graduation through coursework credits is available only in departments that permit this degree completion option.

Master's students must follow the degree completion method designated by their department (see attached list). Students in departments that do not permit graduation through coursework credits are not eligible to apply for this option.

C.

Applicants must obtain approval for the planned courses from both the thesis advisor and the department chair. Applications may be denied in accordance with departmental academic policies or operating guidelines.

D. Credit Requirements

1. Students must earn the total number of credits required for graduation through coursework credits.
   • 30 credits (or 36 credits for the Graduate School of Smart City Science Management).
2. Students may not exceed the maximum course load allowed per semester.
   • Day Program: 9 credits
   • Evening Program: 6 credits
3. Students taking courses offered by other departments may earn up to a total of 9 credits, including credits earned before completing coursework.
   • Students who have already earned 9 credits from other departments before completing coursework are not permitted to take additional courses outside their department.
4. Students must complete all degree requirements before the thesis submission deadline.

E. Tuition

Tuition will be assessed according to the regulations and payment schedule for students extending their enrollment beyond the standard period.

Installment payments are not permitted.

Expected registration period:

September 28 (Mon) – September 29 (Tue), 2026

• Up to 3 credits: 50% of the semester tuition
• More than 3 credits: 100% of the semester tuition

F.

Any outstanding research registration fees must be paid in full before the application can be processed.

Applicants may check outstanding balances through ClassNet.
