홍익대학교 국제디자인전문대학원(IDAS) 디지털미디어디자인전공 김보연 교수가 한국연구재단(NRF) 인문사회 중견연구자지원사업에 최종 선정되었습니다.

이번에 선정된 과제명은 「생성형 AI 시대, 디자인력(Designology) 기반 디자인 리터러시 교육 모델 개발 및 실증 연구」로, 총 연구비 약 7천만원(3년 과제)을 지원받아 수행됩니다.

본 연구는 김보연 교수가 오랫동안 발전시켜 온 '디자인력(Designology)' 프레임워크를 기반으로, 생성형 AI가 급격히 확산되는 시대에 요구되는 새로운 디자인 리터러시 교육 모델을 개발하고 그 효과를 실증하는 것을 목표로 합니다. 

디자인을 동사(verb)로 정의하는 독창적인 방법론을 AI 기반 교육 환경에 적용함으로써, 미래 디자인 교육의 새로운 방향을 제시할 것으로 기대됩니다.

김보연 교수는 IDAS 예문관 DLV(Design Lab – Verb+Visual) 랩을 운영하며, AI 기반 디자인 비평 도구 개발 및 디자인 교육 연구를 지속적으로 진행해 오고 있습니다.

2025년에는 연구 성과를 담은 저서 『디자인력』을 출간한 바 있습니다.

【Professor Boyeun Kim Receives NRF Mid-Career Research Grant for Designology-Based Design Literacy Study】

Professor Boyeun Kim of the Digital Media Design program at Hongik University's International Design School for Advanced Studies (IDAS) has been selected for the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) Mid-Career Research Support Program in Humanities and Social Sciences.

The funded project, titled "Developing and Validating a Designology-Based Design Literacy Education Model in the Era of Generative AI," will be carried out over three years with a total research grant of approximately 70 million KRW.

The research builds on Professor Kim's long-developed "Designology" framework, which defines design through verbs, and aims to develop a new model of design literacy education suited to an era of rapidly advancing generative AI. By applying this methodology to AI-integrated learning environments, the project seeks to propose a new direction for design education in the future.

Professor Kim leads the DLV (Design Lab – Verb+Visual) at IDAS and has been actively engaged in research on AI-based design critique tools and design education. In 2025, she published her book Designology (디자인력), which draws on her research in this area.
