IDAS is ideally situated in the heart of Daehak-ro (University Road), a Mecca for cultural and arts exhibitions, and also the performing arts. Daehak-ro refers to the entire section of two streets starting from the Ewha intersection, extending along to Haewha-dong circle. This central area is located across five different adjoining areas of Haewha-dong, Dongsung-dong, Ewha-dong, Yungun-dong, and Myungryun-dong.

For many years, Daehak-ro was largely influenced by Seoul National University (SNU) where its first founding site occupied most of Dongsung-dong, otherwise currently known as Daehak-ro. In 1995, the area was officially designated as Daehak-ro. Throughout the year, an endless number of dances, musicals, theatrical and art performances are held at various theaters and exhibition halls located all throughout the area. Currently, the Arts and Cultural Promotion Center, the Arts Center, the Cultural and Drama Center, The Korea International Cooperative Agency, as well as the School of Medicine of Seoul National University are all located in Daehak-ro. In addition, Marronnier Park presently occupies what was once the site for the Schools of Liberal Arts and Law of SNU. Daehak-ro has evolved into a truly unique area where Seoulites gather to fulfill their dreams in this arts and cultural hub. Consequently, one of the great benefits of IDAS is its physical proximity to the locale which enables its students to keep abreast of the ever shifting fashion and cultural trends of the time.
